ATTEMPTED SUICIDE
LOCAL RESIDENT BEFORE THE COURT. A.s a result oi' domestic trouble Lie wife oi a Union Street resident attempted to commit suicide by drinking, a bottle of lotion on Tuesday. The doctor was hastily summoned.
The sequel tu the above was beard at the Palmerston North Magistrate’s Court yesterday before Mr. J. L. Stout, S.M., a domestic, aged 28 years, and whose name was ordered to be suppressed, was charged with attempted suicide at Foxton on May 15. It was stated by Sergeant Power that the accused had been living with a man at Foxton and he had stated his intention to leave her. The woman’s pleas that he should not leave her destitute had been unavailing and she had thereupon drank a quantity of lotion. She had been more sinned against than sinning.
Accused pleaded guilty and, after being’ admonished by the Bench, was convicted and discharged, and ordered to pay..Xl Is medical expenses.
