REPAIRS TO BULLS BRIDGE.

At Tuesday’s meeting of the Manawatu County Council, a letter received from the Rangitikei County Council stated that it was definitely decided to carry out temporary repairs to the Bulls bridge to the extent of £2BOO. In view of the urgency of the matter, the work was being put in hand at once. This work the. Main Highways Board will subsidise at the rate of £1 10s for £1 expenditure. The Manawatu County’s share of the expenditure amounts to £560. These temporary repairs will enable the bridge to carry traffic for three years pending the erection of a new bridge. Arrangements have been made to restrict traffic to a maximum load of 8 tons. The council’s engineer reported that the staff of the Rangitikei County Council were already at work on the bridge repairs.
