POLITICAL.
Mr. J. Linklater, the sitting member for -Manawatu, will be the Reform candidate at the general election. Mr. H. J. D. McManaway will stand as an Independent. Mr. J. H. Taylor, of Levin, wil| be the official Labour candidate.. ■ Mr. W. H. Field, the sitting member for Otaki, will again contest the seat in the interests of the Reform Party.
There is a feeling throughout the Otaki electorate that Mr. G. A. Monk (chairman of the Horowhenua County Council and Power k Board), should offer 'his services for Parliamentary * representation, as he is considered the 'most outstanding public man in the constituency and one who, by reason of his personality and splendid public service, would inspire both confidence and support from al 1 shades of political opinion. He the type of man that is needed in Parliament to-day.
