ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL.
SEASON OPENS,
Saturday saw the opening of the soccer season on the North Street Park. Conditions were good and the grounds in excellent order. Of the senior games scheduled Athletic won by default from Foxton and R.S.A. were victorious over Bt. Andrew’s, last season s premiers. The “Diggers” fielded their last year’s team with but two exceptions whereas their opponents with several new players did not surprise, when they failed to show their erstwhile combination.
Rangers juniors played the Flock House second eleven on the latter’s ground.
