CLUB RAIDED.
FORTY-FIVE MEN ARRESTED,
Auckland, April 10. Armed with a special warrant, a number of detectives raided the Premier 'Club in Herbert St., last evening, breaking through three locked doors. They found 45 men in the premises, while dice and cards were scattered about the plq.ce. This morning Thomas Dwyer, aged 'SO, steward, and Francis Patrick Law, aged 40, taxi-proprietor, were charged with keeping a common gaming house. They were remanded on bail of £IOO until April 17th. A similar remand was granted in the case of Isaac Kutner, aged 40, boxing manager, who pleaded not guilty to assisting,in the conduct of a gaming house. Six men were fined £3 each, and 36, who pleaded not guilty, were remanded in £5 bail until April 17.
