CROQUET.

Yesterday afternoon the ladies of the Foxton Croquet Club met on the green for the purpose of distributing the prizes won during the past season. Afternoon tea was indulged in and a pleasant time spent, The trophies were presented bj) the President (Mrs M. E. Perreau) as follows: Handicap .Singles: First prize: (Mr R. Bryant’s trophy): Mrs J. M. Barr; second prize (club’s trophy) : Mrs R. Owen; club’s prize: Mrs R. McMurray. In the A grade Wednesday competition Mrs McMurray annexed the first prize presented by the club and in the B grade Mrs button won Mrs Barr’s trophy. The President complimented the new players on the progress they had made during the season and expressed the hope that they would again take a been interest in the game next season. Opportunity was taken to farewell Mrs McMurray, who is leaving the district, and the President made feeling reference to the loss the club was sustaining by her departure! from Foxton. On behalf of the club she asked Mrs McMurray to accept a small gift, and hoped that in days to come it would serve to l’emind her of the many happy days spent on the Foxton Croquet Club’s green. [Mrs McMurray suitably replied and thanked the members for their kindness.

Occasion was also made to wish / Mrs J. M. Barr bon voydge and a pleasant time abroad. The President asked Mrs Barr to accept a fountain pen as a reminder that those left in her home town would be pleased to hear from her occasionally during her travels. Mrs Barr thanked the members for their presentation and good wishes.

The club’s shop day last Saturday resulted in £8 6/- being raised, which amount will be devoted to putting the greens in order for next season.
