HERRINGTON GOLF CLUB.

The official opening of the Herrington Golf 'Club took place on Saturday afternoon in glorious weather. There were several carloads of visitors from Shannon and a Canadian foursome was played, in which Mrs McMurray (Foxton) and Mr Jones (Shannon) were the victors.

The Links were in fair order, having been adversely affected by the prevailing drought, but they promise to be is better condition than ever previously when the weather becomes seasonable. The visitors were entertained to afternoon tea by the local club and at the conclusion, the President (Mr M. B. Bergin) thanked all present for making the afternoon a most enjoyable one, and expressed the club’s gratitude to Mr F. and Mrs J. H. Robinson, whose generosity, had made the club’s existence possible. Mr Blackwood, President of the Shannon Golf Club, responded on behalf of the visitors.
