MAORI MORMONS.

Nearly 7000 Maoris will gather at Ngaruawahia within the next fortnight for the annual Mormon gathering of North Island Natives (states the “New Zealand Herald”). Regarded as the largest and most important Native function throughout the year, the meeting will extend several days, and the guests will be entertained by Princess Te Puea Herangi at the model Maori pa on the banks of the Waikato. This year it is anticipated the event will be honoured by a visit from the Governor-General, who has promised, on behalf of the Government, to give consideration to the request for the\ erection of another large whare. The meeting will open officially on sth April. .
