INFANTILE PARALYSIS.

Out of twenty-one suspected cases of infantile paralysis notified in the Canterbury Health District since Ist February, eight have been diagnosed as positive, twelve as negative, and one is still awaiting confirmatory diagnosis. Three suspected cases included in the total of twenty-one were notified last, week, and one death occurred in the Christchurch Hospital.
The majority of the patients who have been diagnosed as positive cases are between seventeen and twenty years of age, but one is four years old. Two of the patients are. females. They are all in the Christ*church Hospital, except one, and are receiving special treatment. The malady appears to be affecting males to_a greater extent than females. During the present outbreak of the twenty-one cases notilied, seventeen are males and only four females. The case awaiting diagnosis is that of a boy.
