PERSONAL.

Mr. E. Morrison, district manager of the State Fire Office, was a visitor to Foxton to-day. Captain Hugo, inspector of Fire Brigades, arrived in Foxton this morning. To-night he will inspect the equipment at the fire station, and address the brigadesmen.

Mr. W. Adams, who succeeded the late Mr. W. Stuart, as headmaster of the local school, and who since his retirement from the teaching profession has been a member of the Wjanganui Education Board,, will be present at to-morrow’s ceremony at the local D.H. School. The suddfen death took place at Mar ton oil Saturday evening of Mr dairies Follett. Mr Follett was 65 years of age, and was born in Marton within a hundred yards of the present post office. He lived there practically» his whole life, and therefore had been closely associated, With the progress of the town. An old identity of the coast passed away at vOtaki on Saturday night, ii> the person of Mr. Thomas Roach, aged 78 years. The sed, who had resided in Otaki for about 50 years, formerly kept the hotel and ferry at Ohau Beach, associated with the coaching days. He is survived by a widow and a grown-up family of three sons and three daughters. - . Misses McMurray and Emerson, two teachers under the Wellington Education Board who were selected to attend a course of observation and study at the Vineland Training School for children, whose minds are not normally developed, returned by the Aorangi on Sunday. The young ladies spent a session at the school, which is located at New Jersey, U.S.A. Miss McMurray, who commenced her teaching at the local school, subsequently specialised in work among .. backward children in Wellington. These young ladies will probably be employed in organising special classes in the centres. Miss M&Murray returned to Foxton yesterday, and will proceed to Wlellington this week.
