MANGAHAO MEDICAL ASSOCIATION.
A conference was held at the Shannon Council Chambers yesterday between representatives of the Palmerston Hospital Board and the Mangahao Medical Association. The Board was represented by Messrs J. K. Hornblow and A. J. Phillipps (managing secretary), and the Association was represented by Messrs Coates (president), Gagliardi (secretary), and Goldsmith. Dr. Bell was also in attendance. Mr< Hornblow presided. The object of the conference was to discuss what system of medical and hospital treatment should be continued at Mangahao in the future, to meet the ■requirements of those who will bo permanently employed. It was pointed out that Dr. Bell would be leaving Shannon at the end of the month, which would coincide with the completion of his engagement. Shannon and Mangahao would then be without the services of a resident doctor. It vas decided to continue hospital treatment to members of the association until June 30th at a rate of payment mutually agreed upon by the conference. It was decided to request the Mayor of Shannon to convene a public meeting to discuss the question of appointing a district nurse. The meeting conveyed its hearty appreciation to Dr. Bell for the faithful manner in which he had discharged his duties and wished him success in the future.
The conference will report its decisions to the Hospital Board and Association for confirmation.
