Excess of as'sets over liabilities £55 15s Bd, In moving the adoption of the report and balance-sheet, the President thanked the committee for the assistance given him duriiTg the year. He did not think that it would be possible to have a more enthusiastic committee than that selected last year. They , had worked harmoniously and well. He congratulated the juniors and thirds whom, he said, had played the game throughout the season and put up good records. He also paid a tribute to the Secretary, who, besides his secretarial duties, had taken an active part in the playing field. Mr. D. Christie, in seconding the motioq, congratulated the Club on its strong financial position wlpch, he said, was remarkable when it was considered that the Club derived no benefit from the actual efforts of the players, practically all the gate proceeds going to the Union. Everyone connected with the Club was deserving of thanks and congratulation for the excellent position in which the Club found itself to-day. Mr. J. K. Hornblow endorsed the previous speaker’s remarks, and referred to the fact that the balancesheet disclosed the fact that a sum of £9 odd had been incurred in travelling expenses for the delegate to the Union. Great credit was due to the delegate for his services on behalf of the Club on the Union, but it was manifestly unfair that the Club should have to pay the expenses of a delegate whose principal services were devoted to the administrative affairs of the Union. The Club provided players and grounds from which the revenue of the Union was derived and whpn it came to the administrative side of affairs the Club had to pay the travelling expenses of the delegate. He did not know o'f any other local governing body which did not pay the expenses of members of its executive. The Union showed a very substantial credit balance and it should certainly pay delegates expenses. This matter should be brought before the Union if the Foxton Club was going to affiliate again this year. With regard to the local administration, Mr. Hornblow paid a tribute to the excellent work carried out by ladies’ committee, which had been responsible for the raising of a large sum of money. The players had conducted themselves admirably during the past season and representatives of other clubs had expressed pleasure at meeting the Foxton Club teams, members of which, they had said, were the makings of tip-top players. He hoped the Club would have a , prosperous year. With regard to the boundaries question, Mr. Hornblow said that unless the Horowhenua Union agreed to allow Foxton to join up with the Te Kawau or Manawatu Union, the Club could do / nothing, despite the fact that Te Kawau would welcome the amalgamation. The only alternative was to play local football or take up some other game. On the other hand, if the Foxton Club decided to again affiliate with Horowhenua it should see to it that the Horowhenua Union gives Foxton fairer treatment than in the past (applause). The Foxton Club had been granted the sole use of No. 1 ground on the racecourse by the Racing Club with the right to make whatever charge at the gate they thought fit. A dressing shed was required at the course for the use of players and it was only right that if the Horowhenua Council used the ground that they should pay for the use of it and also make some grant towards the cost of the erection of a dressing shed. The 'Club should also request that Foxton be given

fair treatment in respect to rep. matches. The President: The President of the Union promised to give us a fair go if we gave them, another trial. A voice: We were told that two or three years ago (laughter). The President: Something will have to be done if we affiliate this year’. After further discussion it was decided to ask the executive of the Union to visit Foxton for the purpose of discussing various matters prior to the annual meeting of the Union.

Mr. F. A. Mason made eulogistic reference to the work of the committee, ladies and secretary. The motion re the adoption of the report and balance-sheet was then put to the meeting and carried. ELECTION OF OFFICERS. The election,of officers resulted as follows: Patron: J. Linklater Esq., M.P.; president: Mr. H. Hutchins; vicepresidents: Messrs F., C. and J. Robinson, E. M. Wyllie, M. E. Perreau, W. E. Bullard, J. K. HornF. A. Mason, D. Christie, J. Walls, J. Ross, A. Stevenson, R. Rangiheuea, C. Pritchai’d, R. McMullian, W. S. Heyes, W. Kirkland, J. McKenna, I. Corn, .G. MEMBERS’ FEES. The subscription fees were decided on as follows: —Seniors 5/-, Juniors 5/-, Thirds 2/6. GENERAL.

The President and secretary were authorised to operate on the Club’s funds.

The recommendation of the committee that fifteen jerseys be purchased for the use of the school fifteen was put to the meeting and carried unanimously. Mr. F. A. Mason (headmaster of the D. H. School), thanked the Club for its generous donation. There was a lot of work entailed in putting a school team into the field, and he wished to take this opportunity of making reference to the excellent. work in this connection carried out by Mr-. C. Procter. The school team had been very successful for the past few’ years, and for two years had held the Austin Banner and last year had won the Noad Shield for seven-a-side football. The success of the teams was due almost entirely to, the efforts of Mr. C. Procter. He again thanked the Club on behalf of the school, and said that such assistance was greatly appreciated.

It was decided to endeavour to arrange a match against the camp for Saturday in aid of Jack Shortt, admission to be 1/-, children free.

There will be a meeting and practice of all players and intending players of the Foxton Football Club in the practice shed at 7.30 p.m. on Thursday next.
