SWIMMING.
A carnival was held in the local baths last evening, when representatives of the 19th Battery (Wellington), tried conclusions with local swimmers. The races resulted as follows :
Relay race, 100 yards: Foxton Juniors (Hirini (2), Ball and Moore) 1, Camp A 2, Camp B 3. Time 56 2-5 sq(c.
Breast stroke, 50 yards: Dawson (Camp) 1, McLean (Camp) 2. Also started: Mills and Humphries. Time 42 see.
Diving: Reece (Camp) 1, Butler (Camp) 2. 100 yards scratch race: W. Hirini (Foxton) 1, G. Hirini (Foxton) 2. Also started: Reece and Johnston (Camp). Time 72 1-5 sec. At. the conclusion of above events the members of the Lyall Bay Life Saving Club (from the Camp), gave a very interesting demonstration of life saving, showing land drill, towing and resuscitation method (five methods). The demonstration was carried out with great precision and greatly appreciated by those present.
