ENTERTAINMENTS.

TOWN HALL. Milton Sills plays probably the greatest role of his career as Joe Stanton the convicted murderer in to-night’s picture “The Honour System,” at the Town Hall. This story deals with the experiment tried in America of placing convicted criminals on their honour and giving them a great deal of freedom in prison. How this system worked with one man, is told in a picture full of exciting episodes and dramatic action which should please all patrons to-night. In addition to the featured player, George Walsh, Gladys Brockwell and Miriam Cooper have fine roles. Also screening “Love’s Harness” (comedy), News and N.Z.• Scenic. Prices as usual.

There is an atmosphere of the unusual in “Hound of the Deep,” showing at the Town Hall on Monday. Made in the Torres Straits by Captain Frank Hurley, it faithfully depicts the strange adventurous lives of the pearlers, their intrigues and romances. With supporting pictures at usual prices.

The offices and haunts of the U.S. Secret Service, the cattle country, Washington, San Francisco, and then back again to the cattle country forms the locale of “The Border Sheriff,” Universal Blue Streak Western, starring Jack Hoxie, and showing at the Royal theatre to-night. The cast supporting the star includes many old favourites. Among these players are Olive Hasbrouck, S. E. Jennings, Gilbert “Pee Wee” Holmes, Buck Moulton, Tom Lingham, Bert DeMarc, Frank Rice, Floyd Criswell, and Leonard Traiuor. “The Border Sheriff” was directed by Robert North Bradbury. Also “2nd Hundred Years” (comedy), and News. Prices 9d and 1/6. Children 3d and 6d.

George Sidney and Charlie Murray of “McFadden’s Flats” fame, will appear at the Royal on Wednesday in “Lost at the Front,” described as the story of two “Field Marshalls of fun having one shell of a time finding the war! and when they find it being posted to the Russian Women’s Battallion of Death.”
