SOLICITOR FINED.
TRUST ACCOUNT NOT AUDITED Auckland, March 9. J. S. K. MacLennan, formerly a solicitor practising at Kaitaia, did not appear, nor was he represented, in the Magistrate’s Court this mor,ning, when he was charged with having failed to have his. trust fund account audited for the year ending on March 31, 1927. Mr. V. N. Hubble, who prosecuted for the Crown, said the SolicitorGeneral had no knowledge that the defendant was in practice until July of 1921. Defendant in a letter stated that he was' an; Australian barrister, who had obtained his cer- , tificate in New Zealand in 1906. He had been written to several times and requested to forward the .certificate, by an auditor, but<had .not availed himself of- the opportunities afforded him. He ceased to practice on October 16 last. Defendant was fined the minimum penalty, £SO. Mi'. W. R. McKean, S.M., also ordered him to pay costs amounting to £8 12s Cd.
