MRS. FRANCES WEBB,
ONE HUNDRED AND THREE,
STILL W(ELL AND ACTIVE
The oldest woman in New Zealand, Mrs. Frances Webb, celebrated the 103rd anniversary of her birthday on Friday. Mrs. Webb was born in England in 1825 in the reign of King George the Fourth. She has therefore lived during the reign of five British sovereigns and was 12 yours old when Queen Victoria ascended the throne, With her husband, Mrs. Webb sailed from Liverpool in 1857, going first to Melbourne and later to the gold diggings at Bendigo. Subsequently she came to New Zealand and lived at Dunedin, Hokitika, and New Plymouth. She now lives with one of her daughters at Feilding. Mrs. Webb is well and active to a marked degree in one of such great age. She retains possession of all her faculties.
