MANAWATU FLAXMILLERS’ ASSOCIATION.

IMPORTANT MEETING

An important meeting of the Manawatu Flaxmillers’ Association was held in the Racing Club office to-day, to meet Dr. Marsden, of Wellington, secretary of the Industrial Research Board. The meeting was presided over by Mr H. A. Seifert (president). Also present were Messrs A. A. Brown, H. Berry, W. Nye, A. Fraser and J. S. Moir (executive members), and Messrs C. Speirs, G. Rough, F. Wilson, Sutton, IT. Greig and A. Seifert. Mr Cockayne, of the Agricultural Department, was also in attendance.

Dr. Marsden addressed the millers at some length on research work being carried out by the Board in connection with the bemp industry (the context of which will be published in our next issue) and urged upon the millers the necessity for co-operation.

It was decided that the President and Messrs A. A. Brown and J. Moir represent the Association at a meeting to be held in Wellington on March 20th, prior to the conference.
