GAMING HOUSE KEEPER FINED.

New Plymouth, February 22. Richard Miller apjmared at the Police Court to-day, charged with keeping- a common gambliijg house at Urenui, and was fined £4O. Detective Meiklejohn described how the police took possession of accused’s billiard saloon and found evidences of 120 bets having been made, and that £B4 15s had been taken in two days. While they were in possession, two persons enquired by ’phone for bets and information. Miller said he was taking bets in a small way as an agent.
