In 2>resenting the balance-sheet, the chairman expressed regret that the past year had not been as successful as they could have desired, but he was confident that the ensuing year would be one of steady progress. Mr. Newth had worked hard with the boys; he had given up two evenings every week to their instruction and it was gratifying to know that the results were so satisfactory. The chairman expressed pleasure at the presence of Messrs H. Hornblow and I. Corn, members of the Citizens’ Committee. He also referred to the projected departure of Mi’. Hornblow, and on behalf of the Band wished him every success. On the motion of Mr. Heyes, seconded by Mr. Osborne, the bal-ance-sheet was adopted, subject to the auditor’s certificate.
