PERSONAL.
Mrs D. Christie and her daughter, Mrs W. Trueman, are spending a holiday in Dunedin. , Mr James Christie, who recently resigned from the Foxton Harbour Board staff, has taken up a clerical position with Mr H. Osborne . A,t the Masonic Hall on Saturday evening, the local brethren extended a welcome to Rt. Wor. Bro. A. Hobbs, of Christchurch.
The death is reported from Duuedin of Mr. Charles Speight, managing director of the Dunedin branch of the N.Z. Breweries, Ltd. He was a son of the founder of the Avellknown Dunedin brewing firm, and a prominent citizen. Mr. Speight was one of the directors of the recent Dunedin Exhibition.
The golden wedding of Mr and Mrs James Entwisle, who were married on January 30th, 1878 at Havelock, Marlborough, was celebrated at Weraroa recently, and provided the setting for an enthusiastic reunion of relatives and old friends. The family now living consists of ten sons and daughters, who are all grown-up and married, and who reside in various parts of New Zealand.
We desire to extend our congratulations to Mr. 0. Doel, of Foxton District High School secondary staff, upon having obtained his M.A. degree with Honours, cabled advice of which has just come to hand. The secondary department is fortunate in having a teacher with such high academic qualifications as Mr. Doel, who is an enthusiast in his profession and, what is of more importance, has the ability to impart knowledge to his students.
