SWIMMING.

“Bronze Medallion.” in his swimming notes in the Manawatu Daily Times says:—

“Harrison,'the Foxton swimmer, is going very well at present, he uses a four-beat crawl at present and has the makings of a good distance man.

“The Maori boy, Hirini, is another very promising Foxton swimmer who may be expected to do great things in a couple of years if properly guided.” , Last everting a relay race for the Hornblow Ferns took place in the local baths. The challengers (Messrs T. Fuller’, R. Hornblow and Moore) on 4sec., defeated the holders (Messrs A. Walls, G. Perreau and Marshall). There was a fairly large attendance of the local public at the baths last evening to witness the events between the sth Battery and Foxton swimmers. The men were unfortunately late in getting away from camp and as a result a good deal of delay was experienced in getting these events off. Foxton succeeded in winning both relay races and North, on a. touch, won the 50 yards open race. Unfortunately Harrison was unable to be present to represent Foxton. Tho events resulted as follows: —

Relay race, Camp v. Foxton, 100 yards, (25 yards each man) : Foxton (W. and G. Hirini, North and Perreau) defeated sth Battery (Mollier, Blewdon, Jeffries and Gillespie). Relay race, Camp v. Foxton, 100 yards, (25 yards each'man): Foxton (North, Marshall, Moore and W. Swanger), defeated sth Battery (Mailman, McKay, SmutsKennedy and Burns).

50 yards, open: North (Foxton) 1, Blewdon (sth Battery) 2, Gillespie (sth Battery) 3. Time 29see.
