Mr. Tompkins inserts a thanks notice elsewhere in this issue. Advertiser has spare parts of 1921-22 Studebaker car for sale. Mrs A. S. Easton advertises that she wants a capable help, all duties, two adults. H. E. Garbett, cash grocer, draws attention „to bis line of guaranteed Broken Orange Pekoe tea at 2/4 per lb. Also grocery lines are quoted at bedrock prices. Mrs. A. M. Hood advertises that, as she has left the Foxton district she wishes all unpaid accounts (o lie rendered and addressed to her at Koputaroa not later than March Ist, 1928. No accounts after said date recognised. On Saturday last, Tompkins’ drapery sale of stock purchased from Messrs Barr and Tyer was commenced and created a great deal of interest. During the two previous evenings members of the public, impatient to catch a glimpse of the bargains offering, paid close attention to the window displays, where various articles at reduced prices were featured. The “dust-bin window,” where all articles were marked at 1/-, created a good deal of facetious comment, but was quickly emptied when doors were thrown open for business on Saturday morning. Mr Tompkins reports excellent business, the number of customers, being such that, although fourteen assistants were closely attending to their requirements, shoppers in some cases had to wait patiently for attention. Mr Tompkins insei’ts a thanks notice in his advertising space to-day in this connection, and also advises that there are many move bargains to be had equal to Saturday’s.
