FOXTON RACING CLUB.

■ ANNUAL MEETING. SATURDAY AND MONDAY NEXT. The aimual meeting of the local Racing Club will be held on Saturday and Monday next. The meeting is looked upon as the most popular outing on this coast and attracts people from all parts of the district. The reason for its popularity is due to the provision made by the committee for the comfort of patrons and the excellent supervision of officials. The shacl'e of the trees afford shelter for picnic parties and family gatherings, while the rising ground provides a natural grandstand which enables the racing to be witnesser from start to finish without crowding on the rails. The lawns, public conveniences and track are a credit to the caretaker and committee. Despite the spell of dry weather the track, owing to the sandy nature of thb soil beneath the turf, does not “play up” with the horses as obtains on heavy, parched soil. The catering is in, capable hands and the Silver Band will discourse music at- intervals during the meeting.

'Tho acceptances' are excellent, aid should the weather continue fine it is anticipated that the attendance will constitute a record.
