SEWERAGE PUMP PUT OUT OF
ACTION.
Wellington, December 28.
Serious damage was dime'to the Randwick Road sewerage works at Lower Hutt during Sunday night as the result of someone wilfully flooding the motor chamber of the pumping station.
A hose was inserted in the air ventilator and the three-inch hydrant turned on and left running. The ■electric motors were put out of action by the 'water, but fortunately there is a stand-by hydraulic plant which was immediately put into use. Otherwise serious results would have occurred throughout the borough through the overflow of drains. A substantial renrnrd is offered for the discovery of the person responsible.
