DEATH OF A CHINAMAN

Palmerston North, Yesterday. An enquiry, into the ’ circumstances surrounding the death of Young Foo, the Chinaman, aged 71, who died in the Palmerston North hospital as the result of injuries received through being knocked down by a motor at Ohau on December 18th, was held-this morning. The evidence of the motorcyclist showed that, the deceased, when the cycle was approaching, started to run across tht road. He hesitated, and was struck, sustaining fatal head injur'es. The companion of the Chinaman denied that, the deceased left his side of the road. He said that the cyclist, did not swerve, nor sound his horn.

The Coroner returned a verdict in accordance with the medical evidence. He said he did not intend to comment on the other evidence, which was conflicting.
