CHILDREN’S IMPROMPTU CONCERT.
A unique entertainment too.k place last Thursday evening in ajn extempore concert hall. Several young children residing in the vu-> cinity of Duncan Street, wishing to express the Christmas spirit in their, own way, entirely on them own, or-I gnnised a concert party and invited a number of their aduU friends, to attend at Barron’s garage, which they had elaborately dei corated with greenery. The seat-1 ing accommodation was like the ? programme, of a varied description. L The entertainers rendered a splendid programme of songs, recitations and company songs, and it is to be noted that there was no waiting between the items aS occur at most local concerts, the next item very often starting before the previous performer was off the stage. The programme was of exceptional merit, there was no selfconsciousness on the part of the performers, who were really at play and the unrehearsed effects of many items were excruciatingly . funny. Several of the audience declared that they had paid many times, the amount for a less enjoyable hour. The following took part in the programme : —Margaret, Joan', Shirley, Vida, and Beverly Barron, Miriam and Tinkey Symons, Alf. and Lily iMounsey, Kathy and Joyce Shaw. Allison Crowe also gave a recitation. < ' :
The takings which amounted to nearly 25/-, were to purchase Christmas gifts for the children of the beach home.
