MAORI MONUMENTAL MISSIVE
The following is a copy of a letter forwarded by a Maori of a northern settlement to the Native Department: — “To Te Kawant of the Native Department. Dear Sir or Their. —A very soon to our happy New Year and a Merry ’Xmas. How are we. In our last meeting to elect the date to unveiling the monument we pass the motion that for me to write and asked when you he ready to send up the monument, and let us know all the expenses, and who doing the work untill it finished. So that we can fixed the date and tin* month for the hui. Waiting for your reply.”
