FOXTON BEACH IMPROVEMENT COMMITTEE.

ANNUAL REPORT

Tlie annual report of the -Foxton Beach Improvement Committee reads as follows:

“Your Committee again present the Statement of Receipts and Expenditure for the year ending 30th November, 1927. We started the year with a balance in hand of £l7 8/5. The income from the Beach collections and sports amounted to £3B/16/1, receipts from the hall £23/19/6, rent received from the Education Board for use of hall for school £34/10/-, mating a total income of £97/5/7. During the year the hall has been painted 1 at a cost of £26/9/6, and the sum of £26/4/2 was spent on laying down the new court and' repairing the fences on Tennis Court. The balance in hand consists of £2l/11/-, of which £9 17/- is held and was collected by the beach residents towards the completing of the lining of the hall. The Committee have put in hand the completing of the two Tennis Courts. The old court has been raised to the same level as the new one; both courts have been covered with about 15 yards •of fine screened metal, and two coats of best Newcastle tar. This work will run into a considerable sum. of money and your committee feel that some charge should be made to all tennis players for the use of the courts, to help to pay at least part of the cost and the upkeep of same. Hearty thanks are due to Captain Larsen and all beach residents and willing helpers for their valuable assistance during the year. The Committee ■ have during the year approached the Minister of Education through Mr. J. Linklater, M.P., and endeavoured to have the school made a separate school but we were unsuccessful as the Education Department considered that a separate school was unnecessary at present. The Annual Meeting will be held at the Beach hall on Wednesday, 28th day of December, 1927, at 8 p.m.”
