A FATAL FIRE
ELDERLY MAN THE VICTIM.
i Waibi, Yesterday.
The death of Mr. Thomas E. Midgley musician and church organist, occurred under tragic circumstances on Saturday morning at liis re.sidence in Union street where lie lived alone.
An outbreak of lire in bis bedroom brought the fire brigade to the scene, and his lifeless body was stumbled upon by a fireman on the floor beneath the window sonic distance away the bed: Evidently he had groped his way to the window and had fallen a victim to the fumes of the smoke.
Deceased, who came from Bradford, England, 30 years ago, was about 72 years of age. For some years he .had been organist at St. Paul’s, Auckland, and for the past, fifteen years he had been oiganist at the. Presbyterian Church, Waihi.
