MANAWATU COUNTY COUNCI.
TRAFFIC INSPECTOR’S REPORT
The Manawatu County Traffic Inspector (Mr. W. Berry) reported as follows:
“As the holidays are fast approaching several ratepayers where trees are growing at corners and blocking the view of motorists, have
been asked that the trees be cut back so as to give a clear view of the corners. Other offenders in this matter have been sent notices.
During the month an information was laid against one of the drivers of the Highways ' Transport Co’s, lorries for falling' to allow sufficient room for a car overtaking him to pass. The ease was dealt with at the Magistrate’s Court, and the offender was fined £5 and costs. This should act as a warning to other drivers. Final notices had been sent to a number of persons for failing to cut forse and lupins. The roads at the present time are fairly free from wandering stock. The widening of the cutting on Mt. Stewart is a big improvement and will be greatly appreciated by motor drivers. A meeting was held to discuss the new motor vehicles regulations. Mr. Pearce acted as chairman, and there were also present Councillor
Perrett, Mr. Menzies (Kairanga i County Engineer), Mr. Hughes (P. N. Borough Engineer), Mr. Fowler (Traffic Inspector Rangitikei C.C.), Mr. Drew and the inspector. The regulations were fully discussed and several recommendations have ' been forwarded for the consideration of the framers of the regulations. —Received. .
