WfO-ODVILLE—SECOND DAY.
The Woodville District Jockey Club’s summer meeting was concluded on Thursday in dull weather.
Favourites won only two races, and altogether backers did not fare well. Panorama paid a big price in the hurdles, and the winner of the two-year-old race also returned double figures. This was reflected in the betting, the totalisator return for the -day being £13,623 as against £14,154 on the second day last year, a decrease of £521. The total for the two days was £27,581, compared with £29,463 last year, a decrease of £IBB2. Results are as follows:
Papatawa Hurdles: —Panorama 1, Powhiri 2, Hyingreat 3. Won by a neck. Time 2min. 50sec. Novice Stakes: —Royal Picture 1, Eliminator 2, Mark Mist 3. Won by two lengths. Time lmin. 16 3-5 sec.
Gothard Memorial Handicap:— David Garrick 1, Kilmiss 2, Waicullus. 3. Won by a neck. Time lmin. 57sec.
Kiritaki Handicap: —Aston 1, Helotis 2, Mr. F. J. Carmont’s Miss Pat 3. Won by a bead. Time lmin. 1 3-ssec. Railway Handicap:—Cimabue 1, Epistle 2, Inner Harbour 3. Won by two lengths. Time lmin. 14 4-5 sec. Juvenile Handicap:— Mon tea Treasury 1, Amplifier 2, Shot Silk 3. Won by half a length. Time 1 min. 2sec.
Gorge Handicap:—’Superb King 1, Partaga 2, Willow Wai 3. Won by a length. Time lmin. 29sec.
'Stewards’ Handicap:— Henna and Ring Boy dead beat, Thurnbell 3. Time lmin. 5/ 3-ssec. Henna, trained by F. J. Cannont, Foxton.
