FOXTON SILVER BAND
A meeting of the Band was held at the residence of the Chairman (Mr F. G. Yeo) last evening. Mr Yeo extended a very hearty welcome to an old bandsman, Mr W. S. Heyes, who is now resident in Foxton. Mr Heyes was associated with the local Band many years ago, and since his arrival here has already evinced keen interest in the Band’s activities. On the motion of the Chairman, seconded by the Secretary (Mr A. E. Scott), Mr. Heyes was unanimously electel a member. Mr J. Newth reported that the boys were progressing satisfactorily, and that many of them would be drafted into the Band in the near future. It was decided to procure several new instruments for the use of these lads, so that there would be suffijeient for all players. It- was also decided to play a programme of Christmas carols in Main Street on Christmas Eve, when a collection will be taken up to help defray the cost of the pew instruments.
After the meeting Mr and Mrs Yeo entertained the Bandsmen and their wives, the object being to introduce Mr and Mrs Heyes. An enjoyable evening was spent with music and competitions, and a tasty supper was provided by the hostess.
