ROAD CYCLE RACING.
A keenly contested three mile ‘race took place at Foxton yesterday. Seven competitors faced the starter. The race, which provided an exciting finish, resulted as follows : J. Smith (45 see.) 1. J. Francis (15 sec.) 2., E. Coley (30 sec.) 3. In the second lap Francis had picked up the limit man and in the third round all except the scratch men came bunched round the ’.Courthouse corner. A great race was fought out up Main Street, Smith annexing first place by half a wheel from Francis. Coley was well up, third.
