PROFICIENCY EXAMINATION.
HIGH PERCENTAGE OF PASSES
The proficiency results in connection with the local District High School show a percentage of 97 per cent, of successes, which is re- . markably good. The successful candidates are as follows: — Girls: —Stella Baird, Margaret Barron, Noelene Browne, Greta Coley, Jessie Crowe, Mina Ebbett, Elsie Henricksen, Meta Mason, Mary Martin, Mona Moore, Iris MeEwen, Hazel Owen, Grace Reader. Jean Robinson, Caroline Sathei’ley, Miriam Symons, Hope Thynne, .Kathleen Withers. Boys:—Hugh Adams, Leo Bloomfield, John 'Gummerfield, Bernard Gardner, Howard Gardner, Maurice Gardner, Gerald Hirini, Ivan Marshall, Reginald Rickerby, Keith Robinson, Brian Saveli, Brian Walton, Denzil Yorke. Endorsed Competency: — John Purcell. Competency:—lan Booth. The dux pupils of the Primary Department and consequently winners of the Bock Memorial Prizes -for the year are: — Dux boy: —Denzil Yorke. Dux girl: —Meta Mason. i It is interesting to note that sport has in no way interfered with scholastic attainments at the local District High School, which fear was expressed by a visitor to a recent school function. As is wellknown, the local school excelled itself on the field of sport this year, and set a record for the Dominion. It is particularly pleasing to note now that the proficiency results are out that the school has attained a ,97 percentage of passes. Mr F. A. Mason (headmaster) and teaching staff are to be congratulated on the scholars’ fine performance this year. -
