A committee meeting- of,the FoXton Swimming Club was held in WaJls’ Rooms last Tuesday evenin?, presided over by Mr. H. Hutf'liins (President). Also present were Mrs. McKenna and Messrs D. Ball, A. Walls, D. Christie, T. Fuller, R. Hornblow, and .the secretary (Mr. D. R. Barron). ' A donation of £l/1/- was received from Mr. J. K. Hornblow. The President reported that since last meeting he had visited Palmerston North and had been in conversation with swimming club centre members. They were very keen on Foxton affiliating and! were prepared to assist the local club in any way possible. He had mentioned the fact that last year a team from Foxton had paid a nomination fee in connection with a meeting that was to have been held at Feilding, but which did not eventuate, and the members had assured him that the money would be refunded the local club. There was a meeting to be held in Feilding on the 14th of this month and he -would like to see Foxton well represented at that carnival. He also considered it advisable for the local club to affiliate/ right away and to apply for a date for a carnival early next year. It was decided to affiliate with the N.Z. Amateur Swimming Association and to ’apply for the 14th January on which to hold a carnival locally. ■ -’’IM Application is to be made for a championship event for that meet-' ing. The Association notified that junior swimmers were all swimmers under the age of ,17 years. It was decided to divide the local junior swimmers into two grades, A and .B. A swimmers up to 17 years and B u]> to 14 years. The question of the advisability of holding the points prize races weekly was discussed and it was decided that the events be held fortnightly in future. The next night, therefore, will be on Thursday, December Bth. Admission will be 6d, entry for all events free. The events will be as follows — Senior men: 75 yards; junior A: 50 yards; junior B: 25 yards; relay race: 100 yatds; ladies: 25 yards; schoolgirls: 25 yards; and diving for men and ladies. A trophy has been received from Mrs. DesjardineS, and this will be set aside as a points prize for the schoolgirls. A relay team comprising Messrs J. Scott, T. Fuller, and R. Hornblow forwarded a challenge to Messrs A. Walls, Marshall, and G. Perreau for the Desjardines Ferns. It was decided to purchase a polo ball. 'Points prizes were decided on as follows:—lst 4 points; 2nd 3 points; 3rd two points, and every unplaced starter one point.
