NIGHT WEDDING.

SMART —HOOKER. Delicate shades of pink were the predominating colours at a very pretty wedding solemnised on November 16th, at 7 p.m. at St. Patrick’s Church, Palmerston North, the Rev. Father O’Byrne officiating. The bride, Miss Vera Eileen Hooker, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. Hooker of 278 Victoria Avenue, Palmerston North and formerly of Foxton, was given awey by her father. She wore a lovely little dress of shell pink embossed georgette with a beautiful junk veil worked in silver and a pearl coronet and she carried a bouquet of asparagus fern, pink roses, and daisies. The bridegroom, Mr. C. H. Smart, only son of Mr. and Mrs. N. R. Smart, of Pascall Street, Palmerston North, was attended by Mi'. Frederick Hooker, brother of the bride, as best man, and Mr. Alton Francis as groomsman. Completing the bridal party were Miss Margaret) Hynes, cousin of the bride as chief bridesmaid, in a dainty dress of champagne crepe de chine with pink trimmings, and a coronet of flowers, and Miss Sibil Lucas, who wore mauve crepe de chine and a coronet of flowers. The bridegroom’s present to tho bride was a pearl necklace and a .fox fur, and to the bridesmaids, pearl necklaces. The bride’s present to the bridegroom was a set of silver-mounted brushes^ At the reception held after the ceremony at the home of the bride’s parents there were present about fifty friends and relatives, Mrs. Hooker receiving the guests in a frock of bois-de-rose. The happy couple were the recipients of a great number of costly and beautiful presents including several cheques. The bride’s travelling dress was an ensemble suit of rose beige with a crinolin hat to match. The honeymoon is being spent at Aucklanl and Rotorua.
