CROQUET.
The first of the inter-club croquet matches for the 1927-28 season took place at Palmerston North on Thursday, beautiful weather and excellent greens combining in making the day thoroughly enjoyable for all taking part. The following are the results of the games in which the local club representatives took part: — > Northern v.-Foxton, at Terrace End green, (Northern players mentioned firSt): Mrs. Mayes (3£) b'eat Mrs. McMurray (4), 26-23; Mrs. Boyne (5&) lost to Mrs. Woods (4£), 18-26; Mesdames Thornley (SJ) and Tapp (6) beat Mesdames Owen (5) and Pearson (6), 26-19; Mesdames M'Leod (4£) and Hodgson (6J) lost to Mesdames McMurray (4) and Woods (4i)', 15-26. The points for the day’s play are as follows: — 94 ■ Levin Terrace End Oroua Foxton Northern ’ Manawatu Wioodville Ivimbolton
