LORRY SMASHED

ACCIDENT AT MATAMATA. ENGINE DRENCHED WITH MILK. MATAMATA, Nov. 11. Tho tmin from Frankton to Rotorua crashed int.o a milk (lorry at the AVaharoa dairy factory railway crossing this morning at 8.55. Mr D. Cameron, an employee of Cottrell Bros., of Wardville, wns driving the lorry, which approached the crossing from the same direction as the train. The engine struck the driving side of the lorry and tossed it some yards. Cameron received slight injuries to his head and a severe shock. The shattered milk cans were strewn about the crossing and the engine presented an unusual sight as it was drenched with milk.

Hie driving rod of the engine was smashed and in consequence the train was delayed at Matamata. There is an exceptionally clear view of the down line fnom the (approaches to the crossing.
