AN EARLY BREAKFAST.

SUMMER TIME—PLUS,

One Wanganui family at least rose a great deal earlier on Sunday than is provided for by the Summer Time Act, owing to oversea! on the part of its members, says the Chronicle. The lady of the house retired at the virtuous hour of ten, having taken care to advance all the clocks of the house one hour. Shortly after twelve, pater-families arrived home from the club, and, suddenly remembering that the new provision was to come into force at two o’clock in the morning, went the rounds and put the hands on another hour. It was nearly three when the son and heir crept in with his boots in his hand, having participated in a watch-night service at the pie-cart to see the Act into force, and he, too, put on the clock. The result was that the family breakfasted at six (actual time) instead of the usual Sunday hour of nine. It was not for some time that they realised that something was wrong and discovered the error that had been made.
