EXEMPT FROM TAX.
POWER BOARD LORRIES. Timaru, November 5. At the Supreme Court to-day Mr. Justice Adams heard a case in which the Timaru Borough Council claimed that the South Canterbury Power Board’s two motor lorries should be subject to tax under the motor lorry regulations. The Board contended that its lorries were not subject to the tax because they were not “commercial” vehicles. The case was gone into exhaustively and finally the Judge, after quoting numerous authorities, upheld the Power Board’s view and gave costs against the Borough Council.
