BOXING.
TOM HEENEY’S LUCK. , London, /October 30. Mr. Trevor Wignall, writing in the Daily Mail, says: “The New Zealander, Tom Heeney, is the outstanding instance of boxing's vagaries. “He received such. poor support in London that he became penniless and decided to give up the game • and return home. His manager suggested the visit to the United States and Heeney is now one of the most successful and most popular boxers in the world. “Tex Rickard has said that it is quite possible that Heeney will fight Tunney for the championship in 1928. Rickard regards Dempsey as the first challenger for the world title with Heeney and Sharky bracketed second. “Tex Rickard estimated that Heeney was worth £25,000 from the box office viewpoint before lie beat Maloney; he now values Heeney at £100,000.”
