LEGISLATION BY ORDER-IN-COUNCIL.
PROTEST BY CHAMBERS OF COMMERCE. Christchurch, Last Night. A vigorous protest against legislation by Order-in-Couneil, was made to-day at the annual conference of the Associated Chambers of Commerce, which resolved: “That all such legislation is improper and that Orders-in-Council should be limited to the issue of such machinery clauses or regulations as are ngcessary to give effect to acts of Parliament.” Mr. W. Oow, of Dunedin, said that tiie system was a crying shame, which was getting worse daily.
