ARBITRATION ACT.

ORGANISED LABOUR PROTEST. Auckland, Oct. 24. There is a good deal ‘of criticism in trade union circles regarding the proposed amendments to the Arbitration Act. The president of the Auckland branch of the Alliance of Labour has received a communication from Wellington,' forwarded by Mr J. Roberts (General Secetary of the Alliance) and Mr G. Baker (Secretary of the Trades and Labour Council), as follows: “A meeting of the Labour movement was held in Wellington last night, when the delegates unanimously condemned the amendments to the Arbitration Act, and decided to take every action to prevent the Bill from becoming law. We advise you to call a meeting of the labour movement in your centre immediately to discuss the position and appoint delegates to attend a conference in Wellington on Friday next. Request all industrial organisations to co-operate.”
