HOROWHENUA ELECTRIC POWER BOARD.

MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly meeting of the Horowhenua Elective Power Board was held in Levin on Tuesday, there being present: Messrs Monk (chairman), Barber, Vincent, Bryant, Morse, Blenkhorn, Petherick, Seifert, Gunning, Goldsmith (secretary) and Smith (engineer). INSTALMENT OF LOAN. The Public Trustee wrote notifying the Board that the district manager had been instructed to pay £IOOO, representing a further instalment of the Board’s £IO,OOO loan. The secretary stated that the Board had drawn £4OOO, with this instalment. The letter was received. TREASURER’S REPORT. The report of the treasurer (Mr. Goldsmith) contained the following information: — Accounts for payment. —In reviewing the accounts for payment, ■the most striking and most important item is the account from the Public Works Department for the electricity for the quarter ended 30th September, 1927. The highest peak for the quarter was on the morning of the 28th September between 11 and 11.30 o’clock, and the account is for 1923.53 k.v.a., the amount being £3947 Is 3d. For the same quarter in previous years the accounts were: — . £ s d 1925 1802 1 6 1926 3233 4 0 1927 3947 1 3 It will thus be seen that the account is larger by £714 than the same quarter in 1926. Further accounts in the pay roll for the day amount to £978 5s 2d, and the total including the electricity account before mentioned is £4925 6s sd. Of this sum the loan bears £474 8s 3d and the Power Fund the balance of £4450 18s 2d. The chief items of the expenditure, other than the electricity account, are for transformers, meters, fuses, waterheaters, wire, ranges, and tyres. Receipts.—The receipts for the month and the cash takings for the first half of the financial year are shown by the following table, also a comparison between this year’s and 1 last eyar’s returns, shillings and pence omitted. i ft! +e eft(M tt. -'W « o ft ® Ci m H <t) cc H Installations, fittings and service lines. 493 4,092 Interest on installation accounts 52 354 Consumers deposits 3 53 Electricity and meter rents 2,849 19,912 Penalties * 30 131 Rents and miscellaneous 30 221 Totals £3,457 £24,756' Electricity and meter tents for the six months ended September 30th, 1927, £19,912 11s sd; for the six months ended September 30, 1926, £16,564 13s 8d; increase, £3347 17s 9d. It will thus be seen that for the electricity and meter rents £2849 has been paid during September, but the 'total. receipts under this head for the first six months of the year did not quite reach £20,000. There seems, however, a steady growth, for the September month as compared with twelve months ago shows an increase of £3,347. INSTALLATION AND SERVICE LINE ACCOUNTS. In reference to the installation and service line accounts, for members’ information a table showed the transactions for the several years from 1924 to 1927. In round figures £56,000 has been invested in this department of the Board’s operations, and £46,000 has come in, leaving £IO,OOO yet to be collected. ANALYSIS OF CONNECTED LOAD. k.w.
