'Mr. H. Wlitchell, who lias been connected with the Bank of New Zealand for the past 41 years, retires at the end of November. Some years ago Mr. Witched was in idiarge of the local branch of the Bank of N.Z. and was transferred to Dargaville and subsequently to Otaki, where he is at present. The Mail states that Mr. Witched intends to settle in Otaki. The death occurred at the Palmerston North Hospital on Sunday of Gordon Keith Cossar-Millar, second son of Mr. and Mrs. M. Cos-sar-Millar, of 88 South Street, Feilding. The deceased, Avho was only 17 years of age, was admitted to the hospital late on Friday evening, suffering from a fractured skull, sustained when his motorcycle ran into a cabbage tree on the Kawakawa road, and though an operation was performed it was of no avad.
Lady Brunton, wife of Sir William Brunton, ex-Lord Mayor of Melbourne, died in a private hospital in Auckland on Sunday. With her husband, Lady Brunton was returning to Melbourne from a trip to Europe and America. They were passengers on the Aorangi which arrived atAuckland from Vancouver last Monday morning. Lady Brunton became ill on the voyage to Auckland and as soon as the ship berthed she was removed to a private hospital. An operation was performed and Lady Brunton rallied, but relapsed later. The Rev. S. H. D. Peryman, in charge of the Foxton Methodist Circuit, will probably retire from active service next year. Mr. Peryman commenced ,'hjis ministry 35 ,years ago, at Wakatipu, and since then has been stationed in circuits in both the North and South Islands. Durng the whole of the period Mr. Peryman has not had a break. When indisposed, Mrs Peryman has filled the breach. In fact she lias been almost as active in pulpit and pastoral work as her husband, and the time has arrived when they are entitled to take things quietly. In fact Mr. Peryman’s medical advisers have warned him against active work in the future.
