FOXTON UNITED SPORTS ASSOCIATION.
A committee meeting of the Foxton United Sports Association was held in the Racing Club office on Tuesday night, presided over by Mr. W. T. Jewell (President). Also present were Messrs S. Barber, P. Jack, J. Newton, G. Smith, D. Christie, R. Warwick, J. Thomson, R. Bryant, E. Parkin, and the secretary (Mr. R. McMurray). Apologies for absence were received from Messrs S. Austin, W. E. Barber, W. Jewell Jnr., D. Ogilvy and D. R. Barron. Messrs A. L. Milner and J. McKehzie were elected to the Association.
The quotation of the North British and Mercantile. Association for insurance of £2,000 was accepted.
It was resolved that the Band receive lunch on the grounds. Messrs Pritchard and Parkes .were elected time-keepers subject to consent.
It was decided to notify Palmerston North by ’phone as to the weather conditions prevailing locally on the morning of the sports. Mr. R. Bryant reported that the course was in excellent condition but it would be necessary to engage a man for a few days to assist the caretaker to erect the enclosure for the bikes. —Left in the hands of Mr. Bryant. The secretary reported that nominations were coming in freely, one having been received from as far afield as Whangarei.
Messrs Rogers and Hall wrote stating that they would be entering a new”“Le Yack” motor cycle in the championship event. • The erection of the lap scoring board was left to Messrs Christie and Thomson.
It was decided to instal a “buzzer” in the enclosure to notify riders as to closing time of nominations. *' The C. M. Ross Co’s, quote tor calico numbers for riders was accepted. Members expressed approval ot the large number of nominations already received, which they considered indicated'a record meeting.
