S.M. COURT.

MONTHLY SITTING

The usual monthly sitting of the local S.M. Court was held yesterday, before Mr. J. L. Stout, S.M. R. Ball, H. W. A. Newth, G. Coley, A. E. Walsh, A. D. Lyle, and W’ Procter were each fined 5/- with costs 10/-, for riding bicycles after dark without lights. R. Ball and W. Procter were each fined 5/-, with costs 10/- for not having a rear reflector attached to their cycles. WANDERING STOCK. L. McAllister was fined 10/-, with costs 10/- for allowing two horses to wander on the County roads; P. Hotorini 5/- with costs 17/-, and A. Groome 5/-, with costs 12/-. CIVIC CASES. Judgment was given for plaintiff in the following civil undefended cases: — J. G. Speirs v. A. M. V r right, £46 7s 3d, costs £3 5s 6d; H. B. Cresswell v. A. M. Weight, £lB 12s Od, costs £2 17s Od; K. Coley v. H. B. Cresswell, £24, costs £3 15s; H. W r . Lacey v. AY. B. Stickle, £8 16s 9d, costs £2 10s Od; C. Billings v. E. F. Graham, £4 0s 6d, costs £1 5s 6d; same v. R. Shaw, 14/6, costs 10/-; same v. W. Procter, £1 6s 6d, costs 10/-; R. Rangiheuea v. A. McKenna, £l4, costs £2 14s Od; A. Fraser v. T. M. Gunter, £5 5s Od, costs £1 15s 6d. JUDGMENT SUMMONSES. L. Cook was ordered to 1 pay C. Billings £ls forthwith, in default 14 days’ imprisonment, warrant suspended- so long as defendant pays £1 per month, first payment on the 4tlf November, 1927. Cook was also ordered to pay V. McDowell £l3 2s forthwith, in default 14 imprisonment, warrant suspended as long as defendant pays £1 per month, first payment, 4th November, 1927. R. Matthew was ordered to pay Messrs Mason and Struthers (Christchurch), £1 14s 3d, on or before the 4th November, 1927, in default three days’ imprisonment with hard labour.
