In a fight in New York, Tom Heeuey, of New Zealand, knocked out Jim Maloney, the Boston heavyweight, in the first round, in one minute, seventeen seconds after they entered the ring. Maloney dropped flat on his face for the full count, after the first few blows, having received a terrific right-han-ded to the chin, necessitating revival with ieewater and smellingsalts. IJeeney and Jack Sharkey have been matched to meet in New York on November 18, in a twelve-round bout. Sydney, October 2. At Newcastle Stadium, Eddie Parker, 12 stone, of New Zealand, defeated Frankie Burns, 11 stone 10Jib., of Newcastle, on a technical knock-out, in the sixteenth round.
