FINED £25 AT AUCKLAND.

Auckland, Sept. 27.

Gladys Florence Maskrell, a married woman aged 32, pleaded guilty in the Police Court to-day of carrying on business as a bookmaker at the, Ellerslie racecourse.

The chief, deceptive stated that accused had been in business as a ookmaker for 18 months. Yesterday she was seen betting with women. She went to the course with five guineas. Just prior to the sixth race she had £3S 9s fid in a handbag. She bad women scouting for her. She paid them well. Accused had a husband and two children. The husband had been out of work, but was now employed. Mr. Hunt, S.M., fined accused £25.
