RUN OVER BY TRUCK.

RAILWAY EMPLOYEE LOSES FOOT. Palmerston North, Sept. 24. Moans heard in the railway yards at an early hour this morning prompted a passer by to make inquiries, with the result that Richard Henry Campbell, a married man, aged 32, was found in a semiconscious condition due to a partially severed foot. Campbell, who is a painter, employed by the Railway Department, was conveyed to the hospital, where it was found necessary to amputate his foot. It appears that Campbell at a late hour last night attempted to cross the railway yards, and in doing so was caught by a truck during shunting operations. The accident was not discovered until 3 o’clock this morning. The victim of the accident is now reported to be progressing as well as can be expected.
